Eight Crazy Nights: Night 1

Dinner and a Movie

We kicked off the Hanukkah revelry by taking the kids out of school a little early to see the baby Jesus movie The Star.  Because that's what you DO on Hanukkah of you are a blended family.  Duh.
The little kids loved it.  Harry said it was a low point in Oprah's career, and Jack seemed satisfied, but not over the moon.  Also, we see way too many movies beause this treat was totes NBD.
Next up on this first Hanukkah night?  Well, a trip to see Santa of course.
 Santa selfie:
 Cooper wanted in on it
One of my FB friends noted Santa's man spread, and now that's ALL I CAN SEE.
But wait!  Our night was not over.  We went to a hibachi place that we knew the kids would adore.  AND THEY DID!

Except for Dorothy who was so scared when the chef lit the griddle on fire that she said she was just going to sit quietly with her iPad.  So that's what she did.
Jack loved it. Hibachi humor is his jam.
Cooper did, too. And he discovered a new food to eat: shrimp.  AKA: the only protein Cooper has ingested in MONTHS.
Our final stop was a trip to our favorite diner/bakery for pie (me, Ben, and Jack), cake (Harry), cookies (Cooper) and a morning bun (Dorothy)

And excellent first night!  And tonight!  We have both a 6th grade band concert AND a sibling gift exchange to look forward to.

As another momma in a blended family (i am the jewish one and totally missed night one of Hannukah...), wondering if you have come across any good books that depict blended families celebrating both chrismas and hannukah... something aimed at 2-4 year olds, ideally. I haven't been overly impressed with what I've found out there, and hoping you library gurus may have crossed paths with something... Thanks
