Finally cut down on our 6-gallon-a-week milk habit

We have taken a nutritional step WAY WAY backwards around here.

The good news is that Cooper is completely not in any way constipated anymore.

The bad news is we have replaced all of the organic milk he used to consume with high fructose corn syrup and red dye.

He is supposed to stay on Miralax through Friday when we see the pediatrician for an ear infection recheck, and he just will NOT drink it.  We spent 3 days fighting with him for 20 minutes 3 times a day and then!  We had the brilliant idea to buy HAWAIIAN PUNCH which all kids of the 80s know is the best drink ever after cherry Kool Aid which we probably should have bought because Hawaiian Punch is LITERALLY a gallon of HFCS and red dye #40.  I am just bummed it doesn't come in a giant metal can anymore.

Luckily he is down to one dose of Miralax a day, so he's only drinking a serving of Hawaiian Punch, but still.  TERRIBLE.

I made him some whole wheat prune bran muffins; we've cut out all milk and yogurt, and he is eating lots of fruit (he has been totally over all fruit but apples and bananas, but we got a book about poop and he's been making a point to eat recommended poop-softening fruits). He also takes cups of water to bed with him and drinks water throughout the day.  Progress!

But Dorothy has discovered juice for the first time, and she looooves it, especially Trader Joe's Green Plant Juice.

I have eaten tortilla chips and some kind of fatty dip for like the last 3 days for dinner (with beer), so I guess I am not one to set high nutritional standards after all.

Oh!  Today!  We were such a DST stereotype.  The kids woke us up at 8:05, and they need to be at school at 8:15.  So, THAT was fun.

  1. Ugh. Daylight savings time blows. C got the kids Koolaid squeezers. I was a total b and kept correcting them when they called it juice.

  2. What was the name of the poop book that helped? My 4 year old tends to have issues if we don't keep on top of things.
