5 on a Friday: Things I’m Looking Forward to This Weekend (7/52)

 1. Finishing THIS BOOK. It is really excellent, and if I had a big chunk of time, I could just finish it.

2. Watching Dorothy’s dance team dress rehearsal in advance of 2 months of competitions. I have only seen 1/6 of her dances, and I have only glimpsed little pieces of the rest of them through the studio windows here or there. Plus she has a fun new dance bag to organize and play with.

She did a dry run while Minnie played with the bag’s dust cover and then eventually borrowed a jazz costume.

3. Harry getting a negative COVID test and me fumigating his room. CANNOT WAIT FOR THAT ONE!!!

4. Making tiny pizzas on tiny naan. I meant to get small naan from Costco so we could make individual pizzas, but they were out, and my shopper subbed teeny naan, so now it’s a happy hour dinner on Saturday, and I can’t wait.

5. Eating our way through this junk infusion. Think we have enough snacks for the next 3 days? (Also, except for the salad and chicken, none of this is meal food or “counts” towards our weekly groceries (well, I did snag eggs and milk)—- JUST ETXRAS. FEEDING 5 KIDS IS INTENSE.)

Also! I imagine much of the weekend will look like this:

After a week of a whole lotta this:

  1. I wish I were a kid in your family! It gives me childhood-weekends-with-all-my-cousins vibes :). I hope Harry does test negative and that you all have loads of fun!

  2. LOL, I made comments on your other post from earlier this week that referenced this one. Just ignore me. Sigh. It's been a long week. Anyway! Hoping for negative tests, a finished read, and yay for snack dinner. The best, for real. (Also best eaten while at a counter/sitting on the floor around a coffee table, etc.) I'll repeat my question here - what ARE those big white jugs? Milk? Juice? (And also? I think Dorothy is better with makeup than I. No contest.)

    1. Milk— cheap hormone laden milk. Dorothy is getting GREAT at makeup.

  3. Skinny Pop is my favourite, even though the name is stupid.
Feeding two teen boys was insane, I cannot imagine your grocery bills. Well, I can. INSANITY.
Tiny pizzas on tiny naan! I used to make pita pizzas all the time BUT NEVER ON MINI PITAS. That sounds pretty fun, honestly. Maybe finicky but fun.
TWO MONTHS of dance competitions! Go Dorothy!

    1. I think it WILL be fun to make tiny pizzas— we are currently brainstorming toppings for a Saturday grocery pick up.

  4. I have heart palpitations thinking about pizzas on the mini Naan. I've made them on small Naan, but the real mini Naan size is next level. Don't tell my kids because they will WANT THIS!

    1. it’s a meal AND an activity. I am going to do mostly goat cheese, balsamic, and basil leaves on mine, I think. But one kid is thinking tiny taco pizza and another wants pepperoni. Jack is going to try teeny BBQ chicken and ranch, etc etc

  5. Mini pizzas!!! That sounds so fun! You always sound like you are having a lot of fun. I love it. I am sure there are Moments, but you are really killing it at being a mom.

  7. Feeding a family with 5 kids is really something else... I remember how much milk my mom would buy each week. She really would have benefited from Costco back then but we lived in a rural town that sometimes didn't even have a grocery store. I still marvel at the fact that she got a meal with a protein, veggie, and carb on the table every night. HOW.

I'm glad you are liking Come and Get It. I heard another podcaster saying they didn't like it. I loved her debut!

OMG Minnie in that outfit! Made me whole day. Thank you. I hope you get the downtime (and negative Covid test) that you’re dreaming of this weekend.

I hope your weekend fulfills all your hopes and then some. I want your life to be a reality show that I can play on loop.

  10. The ride in the laundry basket looks so fun and I laughed at the following photo 'after a whole lot of this'. I hear you on the food that isn't even real food and how it goes so quickly. That outfit on Mini was too funny. Hope the weekend is great!

  11. Mini pizzas FTW! Enjoy your weekend, it looks to be a good one. I'm stressing out a bit about dance competitions, though...I hope she has a GREAT TIME. Sounds exhausting.
