5 on a Friday: CAN YOU EVEN BELIEVE THE SEMESTER IS ALMOST OVER? (18/52)

 1. A quick note on PJ's: I bought a REALLY CUTE nightie and robe set at WAL MART of all places for like $17. I really like it and might buy more colors. (I went to Wal Mart to buy a pair of exercise shorts because I need another pair to wear in the morning now that I like to do a quick mile around the neighborhood after I do yoga and use my elliptical trainer, but I DO NOT WANT to wear exercise clothes for real as my actual clothes, and when I buy expensive workout-wear this is exactly what happens. I am not tempted to wear my $9 Wal Mart shorts in public). (Also THANK YOU for the comments telling me to also look at jammies because I did, and I like them SO MUCH).

2. It's all over but the grading! I am thrilled to put Spring 2024 in the rear view. I am burned out. My grad students are burned out. Our undergrads are burned out. ENOUGH. Bring on the pool.

3. There are MAJOR CHANGES brewing over here, and I CANNOT EVEN TELL YOU about them right now, and it is KILLING ME. (Good things-- don't stress).

4. EXCEPT. I am stressing, apparently. My massage therapist was like oh my god every muscle in your body is tense what's wrong? WHICH MADE ME EVEN MORE TENSE WTF.

5a. THIS IS HAPPENING. I AM NOT OK.

5b. THIS IS ALSO HAPPENING, and I LOVE IT.

  1. Okay, I can totally empathize- I was NOT okay when my son graduated high school! Well, I was okay at that moment but when the time came to leave him at college... totally not okay.
So, I'm a massage therapist and i NEVER tell people they're tense! Especially if they walk in feeling pretty good. People can have tight muscles but if it's not bothering them, there's no need to make a big deal out of it. Sometimes I wonder if therapists do that to drum up more business in the future- oh, you're so tense, you should definitely be coming every week! It's just wrong.
I'm looking forward to hearing about the good, big changes!

  2. I'm very curious about the big exciting changes on the horizon for you! And happy end of the semester! I imagine you have very mixed feelings about your first graduate. I know my parents struggled big time with their first HS graduation, especially my mom. And then it got easier and easier and by the time they got me, #4, they were in shrug emoji status. Ha.

  3. A big graduate and tiny one--all the "aw-s"!!

Love that there are some good changes on the way, the semester is at an end, and pool time is on the horizon! And also--so proud of you for scheduling yourself a massage.

  6. Oh my goodness look at your babies!!!! So many wonderful changes ahead for them and for you. ❤️ Love your jammies - they are super cute! Maybe I should upgrade from my typical nightwear of old t-shirts?!

  7. I'm finishing up my own Ph.d and I guess I'm glad to know everyone is burned out at this point. Still. Ugh. Yes the grading is so much.

  8. I'm dying at your exercise clothing approach. I totally get this. I'm sweating, no one cares.

Big changes? Hmm. I'm stumped and excited to find out.

The graduate. Ah, yes. I am in that boat, but I really don't think I've processed it, because of everything else going on. I wonder if that means it'll hit me in the face.

I'm not a teacher, but my job winds down at this time of the year and I'm ready for it too. Rearview mirror indeed.
