PJ Day Redux

So you know how Minnie is in a part-time preschool? Well. For 3 year-olds, they have a Monday/ Tuesday morning class and a Wednesday/Thursday/Friday morning class. She is in both classes, so she gets a repeat occasionally. This week, she got a bonus PJ day for the cozy home unit (they have all fleece things in the dress up closet, and the pictures I get of her and her friends in giant robes and sweatshirts being “grandmas” are THE BEST).

It is slushy with tons of snow melt (hello, climate change) and freezing rain (40-degrees next week **yikes**), so she decided it was the absolute perfect moment for a floor-length nightie.

Email I sent to her sainted teacher:

Proud PJ-day goer:
Then she came home and played in a box hashtag benign neglect.

She’s also learning to pour water at school because they serve themselves snack, which makes me think of Jack’s Reggio preschool where the two most important things he learned were how to eat soup (they had an on-site chef) and that he liked couscous, which was so helpful durning his beige food phase. God bless preschool.

  1. She's like a tiny Blanche Devereaux in that gown. I love it.

  2. So adorable! Bless preschool, indeed! Nu learned to say "I'm not comfortable with that" at preschool and it was such an important (and so darling when lisped) lesson.

    1. Minnie says Please stop. I don’t like that. And of course all her siblings think it’s adorable and try to make her say it

  3. I LOVED preschool and genuinely miss the lessons they learned. Grade school is not nearly as sweet. And I feel like my kids have regressed? Like last night my 9-year old was asking me to cut up his food!! And I did it, sigh, because I had zero fight left in me. It wasn't meat, it was homemade waffles which are so soft and fluffy you can cut them easily with just a fork).

Love the text to her teacher. Hahaha. Good luck talking toddlers out of what they have their heart set on.

  4. PJ day sounds delightful. But I am still cold looking at her in that nightgown even though it's in the 30s here. Burrrrrr! But kids seem to run at a different temperature or are something? Her cozy unit sounds so cute!!

  5. Am I reading into this too much, or did you mean to say 'let go' when referring to the Frozen gown? Get it? Ha.

I love the pouring water lesson. The long flowing gown and practicing on the potty, so sensible.

There was a large Costco box floating around the house recently. Coach almost recycled it yesterday. I was like HOLD UP. The toddlers loved it, and since I got paid while they played with it - I'm gonna choose not to label it benign neglect. There is nothing like an empty box to entertain a small child in the dead of winter.

  7. I would like to have pajama day at work... oh, wait (*looks down at sweatshirt, leggings, and warm socks for working at home*). Nevermind. ;)
