Flu, eh?

Ok, but really. THINGS HAVE BEEN ROUGH SINCE WE GOT BACK.

I really love my job, and most of the time, it is so fun and engaging that it doesn’t even feel like work, but the penultimate week of the semester is not one of those times. So, like, things are busy and have been since we got home. Plus, I have done some really stupid stuff like schedule a once-a-semester evening event for this week of all weeks. And also!! I have my seniors doing presentations this week and next week, but my class only meets once a week (it is a hybrid class and also meets online). So! That means I have to fit 40 student presentation in, in two 75-minute class periods. Which MIGHT have worked but! I sent a Google Doc for them to sign up for a presentation time and forgot to limit editing permissions, and 33 people signed up for the las day of class which is … not mathematically possible. We figured it out, but extra headaches, you know? Plus grading— all of the grading— and so many class administration issues for the giant course I direct that crop up at the end of the semester anyway.

ALSO THERE WAS VACATION LAUNDRY.

Plus, nothing makes you realize your kids do a ton of activities like spending 10 days not doing activities and then immediately re-entering society. YIKES.

Then there’s the YUGE holiday season looming and me with barely any gifts bought. Minnie and I spent our first day home putting out all the Christmas decorations, but there’s literally no way we can get a tree before 12/10. **cringe face emojis**

BUT THE ICING ON THE CAKE IS THIS

She feels AWFUL and has a really high fever that comes down to about 101 with Tylenol and ibuprofen round the clock.
GAH. Cross you fingers that the rest of us stay healthy, friends.

  1. My 5 year old just tested positive for flu A as well. She had her flu shot and seems to be doing okay besides coughing all the time. Just waiting for the rest of us to get it.

  2. Oh no! We're on almost a week of a flu-like bug with my son. I'm so tired and over it (and there hasn't even been any vomit involved). But lots of middle-of-the-night wakings and everything just feels off-kilter. PLUS...there are still THREE more people this could go through in our family before Christmas. Sigh.
I hope the rest of the fam stays healthy on your end.
And that is a lot of laundry!

  3. Ugh, that is a really really rough re-entry after a vacation. I hope everyone else manages to avoid the flu! I have somehow managed to not get influenza which is kind of shocking with all the germs we are in contact with at daycare!

  5. Oh my, I hope you're all recovered soon. That is a big pile of laundry and so much organizational school work at the end of the year. I don't envy you.
