Dorothy’s 11th Bday!!!! (Yes, all of those !!!! Are necessary)

 What a day!!!

Usually we do cake and presents first thing, but we have staggered morning leave times that don;t make room for festivity very well, so Minnie gave Dorothy the present she picked out first thing, but Dorothy had to wait for the rest of her gifts until dinner.
(It was a cupcake squishmallow)

(Also there was Kringle— with candles)

Once we deposited everyone at school, she and I hit up HyVee to grab our dance comp cupcake order

And then got coffee at a cute new coffee shop that Dorothy said looked like a Calico Critter hang out (the furniture was very teeny)

When Minnie got done with school, the three of us headed out for lunch and shopping.

First we got our traditional birthday bath bombs from Lush (not an official thing— just a thing we buy every year)

Next up, Dorothy made a necklace at Kendra Scott

Then LUNCH (Dorothy laughed when she got a kiddie cup— she really is small though)

She spent some birthday money at Lulu and was delighted to find she can wear their clothes now

We had to stop for birthday cupcakes

She requested a funfetti cake with whipped cream frosting (pink, natch) and steaks, shrimp, baked potatoes, green beans, and Caesar salads, so that’s what we had for her bday dinner

And of course, FINALLY, PRESENTS!!!!

  2. This looks like the MOST fun. Also, I am taking notes because I think Dorothy and my kid have the exact same gift wish list.

  3. Though I could never pull it off, that red outfit is one of the BEST THINGS I'VE EVER SEEN (#lifegoals...in another life). What a fun day. I want a birthday just like Dorothy's this year! I'm also not letting my almost 13-year-old see this because, um, I don't think her day is going to be quite so amazing. This post made me smile from ear-to-ear. What a great celebration <3

  6. This is amazing!!! I want to be a kid in your house! I'm also feeling really bad because we basically did nothing for my daughter's birthday this year... of course she was in Rome on a band trip, so there was that. But even when she got home we were kind of like "oh yes, how was your birthday?" and then I think we gave her a gift card or something. And I actually love birthdays! Well, you've inspired me- next year I'm going to make it special.

  7. What a fun birthday! I fully support spending a FULL DAY doing whatever you love on your birthday, and it sounds like Dorothy got exactly that. <3

  8. Wow. This looks like a pull-out-all-the-stops kind of day. What a great way to celebrate Dorothy. I remember that little sib excitement to give the birthday kid their gift. So sweet.
