Time Track Tuesday-- some more details

 1. Multiple people commented about shopping on a Sunday, that is sounded not fun, they'd never go to multiple stores at once, and I just... cannot relate. I LOVE shopping. Even Costco when it's slammed. BUT ALSO. I do NOT have time to do it at all right now so I am making tons of carts with holiday wish list items in them in advance of cyber Monday sales. I would adore spending my time going from store to store in search of the best gifts and deals, though. IT'S SO FUN. Does anyone else love shopping?

Look how happy we are to head into a totally packed Saturday afternoon Costco

2. I got a couple comments last week about my lack of showering after working out, and you guys. IT IS SO GD COLD HERE IN THE MORNING that I WISH I would sweat. SWEATING WOULD FEEL SO GOOD. I bet I will end up needing to take a super fast morning shower when it warms up. I almost did on Saturday because it was in the low 60s, but I just sort of walked around looking gross for the rest of the day instead.
But! Speaking of showering! I require everyone in my entire family to be nighttime shower people because I am the one who changes the sheets, and I think if people went to bed w/o showering, I would want to change them MORE than once a week because I am clearly a weirdo.

Speaking of sheets! I am finally on a sheet changing schedule for this semester. AND THE SEMESTER IS OVER IN 3 WEEKS. Geez. I hope it does not take me as long to settle into spring.

3. The general theme of the comments I get when I talk about a daily breakdown is OH MY GOD THAT'S TOO MUCH STUFF and WHOA YOU HAVE NO MARGIN. I mean. You guys. YES. Also, it does not seem like I am doing very much in the moment, I swear.

Next week, I will share a Tuesday with you-- this has typically been the very worst day of my week this semester-- although we have done a few things to make it smoother. But then! Jack started his dive season, and it got WAY WORSE.

  1. Um. I do NOT enjoy grocery shopping, especially when it's a crowded weekend day. But- I do enjoy shopping for other things. Like, let's say my daughter needs a red shirt for something, we need soap and I "need" new Christmas pajamas- I will happily head off to TJ Max or Target or wherever in search of these things. Not sure why that's way more fun than grocery shopping, but it just is.

  2. I do not enjoy shopping at all. I never have. It’s a means to an end for me and I am so glad I can do most of it online.

Even on cold mornings I still sweat quite a bit, especially at my hair line. I can skip a shower on weekends but would not look presentable enough on a week day. You must not sweat much which is a gift!!

    1. Living Proof dry shampoo is a BLESSING. My hairline gets a little sweaty (but I don't wash my hair everyday anyway), and I definitely need to drink cold water and wash my face. Otherwise I am fine.

  3. I used to like shopping more! I like grocery shopping reasonably well, but I go to Trader Joe's during the week when it's less busy. Book shopping is always my favorite. I wonder if this is an introvert/extrovert thing? I think for me if I have down time, the idea of spending it in a crowded space is less appealing, but I think for extroverts that would be more energizing.

  4. I do actually think you are superhuman.

Once in a while, I enjoy shopping. My kind of shopping is basically browsing, though -- I think I enjoy it most if I don't have anything specific to buy. (There's no pressure.) But it can be relaxing to pop into cute shops with lots of fun things and look at all of them.

    1. yes, I agree re: pressure. Especially in a mid size place like Madison-- it is hard to guarantee you'll find a specific anything.

  5. It got way worse - eek! I remember those days and I barely remember how it all came together. We have just the 3 girls home rn and one of them drives and Coach now is home everyday starting late afternoon. It's crazy to realize some people live this way. So doable.

I love LOVE shopping for clothes/deals/thrifting - I don't really mind the grocery shopping, but I hate it in cold weather and I hate doing it when I have something I'd rather do at home (like finish writing a chapter that's due soon). I dislike dragging all the stuff in and putting it all away. Busy grocery stores don't really bother me - esp because the checkers are out in force vs no checkers and only a self check option later at night when I tend to go. Nightmare to ring up all my groceries at a self checkout.

    1. I really only like going to Costco, Trader Joes, and Whole Foods. I always order pick up if I am going to Kroger (Metro Market) or HyVee

I don’t mind grocery shopping but it feels like a real downer for a weekend. I don't mind popping in for a couple things (especially not groceries or as someone else mentioned, “the thrill of the hunt”) but doing my once-every-two-weeks major shopping in a crowded weekend store is no fun. I get most of my groceries at Aldi and pre-pandemic they were open until 9 on weekdays so I’d put my tiny kids to bed and leave the house at 7:55 and have the entire store to myself. It was wonderful! My preferred time now is between evening activity chauffeuring, with the added bonus is my kids can help unload at home! I tried grocery pickup but between substitutions that didn’t work or mix ups (everyone has a banana story!) it just hasn’t been a good fit for me! So I try to limit major shopping to every 2+ weeks with an occasional pop in when needed.

    1. I don't mind the weird subs once in awhile because it just saves SO MUCH TIME. I do my weekly Kroger (metro market) shop online but do my weekly Costco in person, even though they DO deliver.
