Slow Down Saturday: I am so lucky

Just a quick note on the wonder that is Minnie. How lucky am I to be able to do it all again knowing now what I didn't know the first time?

I am so lucky to be spending another holiday season with a little kid-- seriously, I just want to pinch myself every day.

I know I complain a lot on this blog, but really, I am just so happy to be exactly where I am doing exactly what I am doing with my people. And a cherry-on-top kindergaretner?? What could be better?

Some naps from a kindergarten fall party (I was in charge of the turkey handprint station) (It was PJ day):

  2. Minnie is at such a great age! My parents have a Minnie of sorts. My little sister is 7 years younger than me. She’s the caboose and really kept my parents young. And then after the craziness of having 4 of us a bit closer together (but not really as there is a 10 year age gap between my eldest brother and me (I’m the 4th child)) they got to kind of experience having an only child. So Abby is probably closest to my parents since she had way more of their undivided attention than anyone else did.

  4. Your complaining is all light hearted- it never sounds bitter to me. The joy you get from your family really comes through every day of the year.

  5. Awww, this is so nice. The first kid is so stressful - I remember feeling like if I didn't do x then y would NEVER happen. It's nice to be able to be relaxed about it!

  6. Aw, I love this. What a great perspective and approach - getting to do it all again, still having a kindergartner. We almost didn't get a Curly. She snuck in there between so many miscarriages - I think my body was struggling with undiagnosed celiac. I can't imagine life without her. I don't feel like I'm hearing you complain in your posts - I feel like I'm getting a dose of your reality. Hectic, yes, but always with a funny twist. Gosh, I remember volunteering in the classroom and the joy my kid had when they got to share me with their class. Glad you are enjoying it!

  7. Yes, you're so lucky... and so is Minnie to be so doted on by you and so many loving sibs!
(You've always been the fun mom type I've never gotten a complaining vibe from you)

  9. I love this, and YAY Minnie! She has changed your life in so many ways, but they seem like good ways. Count me in as someone who doesn’t feel like you are complaining when you talk of the challenges and joys of a big busy family.

  10. As someone whose oldest is a 5-year-old now, I think I can see what you mean, but I'd love to hear more of your perspective! :) Hope your Thanksgiving was great.

  11. The only thing I ever think about when it comes to your parenting is how much you seem to actually LIKE your kids. Like, not even just being a parent but that you find them endlessly fascinating and cool, which is what every kid needs. <3
