5 on a Friday: Snow Day Snaps

 1. DOROTHY GOT HER BRACES OFF!!!! She reeeaaaally didn’t want to go to the ortho on Thursday AM because it was a snow day, and she has strict PJ’s all day rules. But, I mean, she managed to rally and put on sweats (after screaming like she was being murdered— love that for us and our whole neighborhood). Will she need braces again when more grown up teeth come in? Probably because in my experience, braces cost about $4k more than your insurance will cover, no matter what the dollar amount of that coverage is. Now she has a retainer that she has to take off a million times a day— love the idea of her touching her mouth and a thing that goes in her mouth a million times during the school day. BRING IT, GERMS.

2. Zoom, just like old days. Ben was at the ortho with Dorothy, and Cooper and Jack were downstairs. Harry was not yet awake because he’s too cool even on a snow day. So, I had a meeting with lots of participation and a two-year-old. Living the dream for sure. She dumped out her blocks and pretty much just sat in the box waiting for a ride (that never came **whomp whomp**).

3. Multi-sibling baking. Harry and Jack took my Target red card for spin Wednesday and stocked up on potential snow day essentials like Funfetti cupcakes with hot garbage hot pink icing. (Note: I made yellow cupcakes with chocolate buttercream on Wednesday from scratch and they were gone before Thursday morning. These kids can put away the cupcakes.)

4. I dropped a glob of peanut butter in my coffee that was headed for my toast, and it was pretty good, you guys.

5. The kids built Minnie a box they called a castle and armed her to the cute little teeth. #MOTY

  1. This is SO cute. Peanut butter coffee, hmm. I like both peanut butter and coffee, would I like them together? It's worth a go.
The day my youngest got braces off was such a day of rejoicing because I didn't have to do it again! He was supposed to have them for 12 months but guess what, the pandemic. It ended up being 26 months, same as my older son who had way worse teeth.

  3. These sib activity pics are adorable! 💗 (Speaking from experience, I'd say prepare to be *felled* by them when they come up randomly after H goes to college.)

  4. I love the cupcake production and the castle. I giggled at your peanut butter accident. Good for you for drinking the coffee anyway!

  5. I mean, peanut butter is pretty sweet. I guess I can see how it would be a lovely addition to coffee? Now I'm thinking about coffee and wishing I had some.

  6. There is a coffee shop near us that has a peanut butter mocha as their specialty. My kids are allergic to peanuts, so we don't go there because of cross-contamination, but it is really popular! Love your snow day pics!

  7. I've been known to put ice cream in my coffee if there isn't a creamer available. Peanut butter sounds like another good option!

The kids baking is too cute! And the speed at which desserts get eaten in your house is awesome and impressive!!
