SUMMER MIGHT KILL US: Accidental over-scheduling

ARE WE GOING TO SURVIVE THIS SUMMER? Literally do not know.

IT IS SO BUSY YOU GUYS SO BUSY AND DANCE HASN’T EVEN STARTED YET. OH MY GOSH.

Also, Dorothy and I are completely summed up by our polish choices— rainbow with polka dots for her. Black for me.

WHY are we so busy when we are not doing anything besides swim and dive and club dive and also water ballet and dance team auditions and three baseball teams and softball? LOL LOL LOL LOL.

Honestly, the dressing myself everyday has really helped because once the day starts coming, it just keeps coming so aggressively. Being dressed before I drop Dorothy off at swim at 8am is the only way we are (barely) making it work.

Coop has swim first thing in the morning. Then he’s home for a little and has dive at the pool. Time for a quick lunch and then 2 hours of dive on campus. Then assorted baseball things OR another dive practice at the pool. Yesterday, for example, he did triple dive plus swim, but the day before, he swam and did double dive and had a night baseball game. He is very tired and asleep by 8:30.

Dorothy’s swim team practice is slightly later, and it’s been her big thing until water ballet some evenings and/or softball. But that’s only because her TWELVE HOURS OF DANCE A WEEK do not start until next week.

And the boys? I mean, they are working all the time, which is awesome, but also, I am down a driver. AND they are somehow not home when I need them to be and home and cooking something elaborate or lowering all the toilet seats to pee on them (I assume because otherwise we have really rude ghosts) when I just need everybody gone and the house tidy. GAH.

I might have to cancel The Little Gym and Goldfish for the summer because yesterday, after gym, Cooper, Minnie, and I went to Crumbl to get treats for Harry to share at work and I realized NO ONE WAS HOME WITH DOROTHY, and I forgot she’d be home alone, so I didn’t tell her to be available via watch, and she wasn’t answering, and the whole thing was VERY STRESSFUL. Plus, I mean, I FORGOT A CHILD in all of the pick-ups, drop-offs, goodbyes, special errands, etc.

So. Summer. EASING IN. LOL LOL LOL LOL. Send help.

  1. THAT IS A LOT, SARAH! I wish the watches were, like, 100% waterproof and never needed charging because there are SO MANY times when I want to contact my kid and she isn't wearing her watch. ARGH.

My biggest mistake (so far) was signing my kid up for two camps, but like, Camp 1 for awhile, then Camp 2, then back to Camp 1, and each camp starts and ends at slightly different times and I cannot keep ANYTHING straight. Plus, we have all the same activities we did during the school year, but they are at different times and/or in different locations, so I have had to completely recalibrate everything. It's only a matter of time before I totally miss picking her up or forget a practice or something.

I have been waking up an hour earlier than normal out of pure panic, though, and so far that's carrying me pretty well through each day. AND I JUST HAVE THE ONE CHILD SARAH HOW ARE YOU DOING THIS.

  2. There are no words. But, also, this feels like a place where you'll thrive? Like, you'll be thriving on zero sleep and in a semi-zombie state, but still thriving in a way I couldn't even comprehend with this level of activity.
It feels like everyone is doing stuff they love and it will all come together and you will be a Magic Summer Fairy of Joy and Amazing Memories.
But also, if this was a schedule I had to keep up, I would be writing my own eulogy at this point - haha.

  4. HAAA omg, you Home Aloned Dorothy! Honestly, if that's the worst that's happened you're doing well. And Cooper, dear lord, doing more in a day than I've possibly done in my lifetime.

  5. OMG. That is A LOT! I think it makes sense to drop 2 of Minnie's activities for the summer since you will have so much else going on!!!
