New year, new snacks!

Stephany mentioned snacks in a recent post, and then I started pestering her with snack ideas on IG messages because I AM A MOM OF 5. I AM VERY GOOD AT SNACKS. And then I thought OMFG Sarah! Leave the poor girl alone and bother THE ENTIRE INTERNET with your snack ideas.

  1. You truly are the Snack Queen! Or Snack Goddess! I saw Stephany's post and didn't know what to say re: snacks that would keep in a hot car but fruit bars! I forgot about fruit bars! My kids loved those things.

  2. Snacks are so important for me when I travel for work because I never know when my next meal will be and I can’t get hangry when meeting with clients. I always have kind GF protein bars in my backpack. I also like pistachios. A lot of snacks bars have gluten in them so that is tricky for me. I also love dried mango.

My kids like pretzels, popcorn, cheez its, apple sauce pouches, and yogurt.

PS I posted my best books today.

Same! When I'm work traveling and not always in control of my schedule, I'm thinking about food all the time and when I will eat next. I pack protein bars and always have to source where my next Diet Coke will come from - ha! Business travel glamour.

  3. My snack hot take: I am pretty anti-snack lately (for myself, I mean; not knocking anyone else's snacks). Invisalign happened at the same time as a massive decrease in calorie expenditure for me, so I ended up just . . . stopping snacks. And I don't miss them! I probably eat more substantial meals than you do since I need them to last 5-6 hours. Obviously the kids still eat snacks (though certain kids will eat snacks and then nothing at meals which is not nutritionally awesome, depending on the content of said snacks). NOTE: I usually eat something sweet right after dinner but I don't really count that as a snack it's more a dessert :)

  4. I'm surprised there aren't more cheese sticks in your WI fam! String cheese, Cheddar cheese sticks, those little Baby Bels were all great hits. For most of their childhood, the fridge had a dedicated snack drawer and cheese was the superstar. Veggies and dips? There was a tofu and edamame dip I got out of the NYT last week that was very green and creamy. I like pumpkin seeds, pistachios, and peanuts--not in a mix, just by themselves. Post-dinner lots of fruit and something chocolaty...

Hippeas puffs, Siete nacho chips, Little Sesame street corn hummus (the best store bought hummus I've ever tried, though I don't know how widely available this is) and mini bell peppers, cheddar and roasted cashews, dried mangos and pineapple rings, rice cakes with peanut butter or babybel spread wedges or cottage cheese and everything bagel seasoning, and I make a homemade oat flour refined sugar free pumpkin loaf....I guess I really like snacks lol

These are great! We have similar snacks at home, although we have different brands for some since we’re located in Canada. How I wish we had Trader Joe’s here!

  7. Like SHU, I'm not a big snacker. Because I have a "sensitive" digestive system, it's better for me to rest it and get really hungry for the next meal. I know- I'm not fun. My daughter isn't a huge snacker, but she will eat protein bars and/or chips, pretzels if they're around. You can tell from your post that you have a large, active family that needs lots of nourishment! Now that I just have one kid at home, snacks aren't as crucial as they once were.

  8. Can we talk about Larabars? I don't want to be a downer, but those things are GROSS and half of them have MOLD and I'm surprised they have not been sued because I know multiple people who have been very sick after eating them. You can do better, GENERAL MILLS.
