October: What I Read + Snapshot Sunday Vol 1

SO MANY BRAND NEW BOOKS. My Libby is overflowing. I gotten SO GOOD at the library holds game that I actually cannot even READ IT ALL YOU GUYS. (Which actually makes me feel really anxious, so let's not discuss). (And then I feel stupid for letting the library make me anxious).

🎧📱📚🎉

Backlist gems (3)

📚Want to Know a Secret by Freida McFadden: This was silly.

🎧Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata: CBBC pick, and the length was **chef's kiss**

📱Maine by J. Courtney Sullivan: I love her. This is great.

Better than meh, but not much (4)

🎉📚This is not About Running by Mary Cain: Something about this story is fishy, you guys.

🎉📱Ungodly Rich by Katharine McGee: This was cute-ish. The central conceit (THEY ARE GREEK GODS) is basically the whole thing.

🎉📚Selling Opportunity: The Story of Mary Kay by Mary Lisa Gavenas: I liked this but there were some dry sports

🎉🎧People Like Us by Jason Mott: I liked this, but maybe I am the only person who did not love it.

Entertaining for sure (5)

🎉📚The Witch by Freida McFadden: Loved it.

🎉🎧Shippers by Katherine Center: Cute.

🎉🎧Finlay Donovan Crosses the Line by Elle Cosimano: I will for sure watch this show.

🎉📚The Social Circle by Sophie Wan: This was SO compelling. There were times that I could not put it down.

🎉🎧Caller Unknown by Gillian McAllister: YES yes yes-- a thriller that was perfect for Ocober.

Excellent-- books of the year, maybe (4)

🎉🎧Good People by Patmeena Sabit: YOU GUYS. YOU GOTTA READ THIS.

🎉📱Peck & Peck by Bonnie Garmus: This is delightful and absurd and then actually heart warming-- plus her trademark sparkling dialogue.

🎉🎧Taipei Story by R. F. Kuang: This is wonderful. So much to think about in such a deceptively simple coming of age story.

🎉🎧Whale Harbor by Mary Beth Keene: This is tremendous, and I loved it. Maybe as good as her Ask Again, Yes which is one of m recent favorites.

🎉📚Switzy by Emma Cline: I love this author, and this one was pitch perfect. SO SAD and also funny and her trademark tension. An old man traveling to Switzerland because he has Alzheimer's and is ready to go-- gah-- it killed me.

Now onto the Snapshot Sunday portion of this post. HALLOWEEN in one photo:
