Wake Me Up When September Ends

Actually? Wake me up after the second week of NOVEMBER if you don't mind because I am going to spend the next 10 weeks in a calorie deficit. Whomp whomp. And also! An LDL-reducing calorie deficit. How incredibly middle-aged am I?  I'M SO MIDDLE-AGED YOU GUYS.

See ya later grilled cheese. Boo hiss.

Other September things?

Use cuticle cream (I put it by my bathroom sink, even)

Bring back the much-maligned weighted vest (not to replace weight training, but to maybe make my walking more intense?)

Ease into a semester workflow that lets me stay on top of week-to-week course management and grading and also makes time for deeper thinking work.

Take a workout class somewhere doing something

Ease into our after school routine (dance does not start until 9/21-- still no team placements)

Adjust slowly to life with 3 kids instead of 5

Visit Pekin

Visit Jack at school

Visit Eau Claire

Celebrate Cooper turning 15 and take him to get his driver's permit and collect his online course certification form

I know people find diet talk either boring or triggering, but I will likely talk about it a little bit here because losing weight in middle age is a pain in the ass-- not as big of a pain in the ass as being sandwiched in the waybackseat, but close.

  1. I'm all for a bit of diet talk. Yes it's a sensitive issue, but frankly it's a sensitive issue that 100% of people deal with, so why not talk about it? Good luck for the next 10 weeks, and I hope that at the end of it you have a nice lean LDL number to show for it.

  2. I don't find diet talk boring! I personally am fascinated by nutrition and exercise- it's just something I think have always enjoyed learning about, and I love hearing how others implement things into their own lives.

    1. Yes, exactly as Kae said, love hearing how others implement things into their own lives. And you're always so smart and creative with how you approach challenges, definitely share with us!

  3. Bring on the diet talk! I know why some people don't want to hear about it, but i'm always interested. Just don't make yourself miserable. You might be too busy to notice you're in a calorie deficit though (wouldn't that be nice) because you have a LOT going on this month! Good luck with everything.

  4. I NEED TO OVERHAUL FOOD IN SEPTEMBER. I have been reaching for quick food (I had packaged ramen at 8 pm the last two nights as my dinner) and it... doesn't feel good. It has been necessary in this season, but I also realize it is TIME FOR ALL THE SALADS!!!
