I know I said the other day that I was shopping for t-shirts, but who even cares because it will be winter here forever, probably.
Here is Minnie at her rainbow loom with Santa over her shoulder and honestly? He should just stay there forever, probably.Hello from my April Uggs
And my April tights.
And my APRIL FUCKING PARKA
Also my April puffer coat.
**sob**
In other news, I am thinking of trying THESE Quince jeans and maybe hacking off a couple inches for a raw hem. Anyone have them?
Also, how are we feeling about the ballet sneaker trend? I am feeling good but also cannot find anything I like for under $200. Except at Old Navy where they are under $20 and come in lots of colors. Maybe I'll try those first? Anyone have cute ballet sneakers you love? I'd really like silver or pink...
For like 15 years, I was in a FB rgoup called Skirtathon where a bunch of academics across the country wore dresses every April and took pics of ourselves every day. But the group disbanded, and now my spring wardrobe is silly-- all skirts and no cute jeans. NO t-shirts. I must shop, you guys.
Unforch, the only thing I have bought lately (besides books and those Old Navy sneaks in beige just now) is a NEW PHONE and case (as long as I was dealing with Dorothy's, I decided to get one, too). (also pictured: my favorite sweatshirt. That I am still wearing in mid-April because the weather sucks)
.
ANYWAY. Tell me what you're wearing right now and if you're shopping or just making old stuff new again (and if it's the latter, HOW are you doing it?).

I was just looking at the quince pants--I'm thinking of getting them too. I just went to Old Navy with my sister-in-law and got some shirts and pants and a dress, and it was fun to restock a bit.
ReplyDeleteWell, you probably don't want to hear from me on this subject, as I tend to wear the same things year-round. Those ballet sneakers are cute! Maybe I'll head to Old Navy and see if they feel okay on my "difficult feet."
ReplyDeleteHang in there- warm weather is coming!
This is the first I am hearing of the sneakerina trend; am very unstylish.
ReplyDeleteIt is very challenging to know what to wear day to day. One day it's 76 and muggy so I want to wear tank tops and flip flops, and the next day it's 35 and I'm back to my winter coat and boots. I would be happy with wearing jeans and a light jacket all day every day, but it's either too hot or too cold.
I have the Quince Bella jeans but I’m tall (6’) so my opinions on them may be irrelevant to those with smaller frames! They only had a 32-in inseam available when I bought them last yr which is a bit short in both the leg and the rise for me, so the fit is a little off. But they’re wearable/$50 so I kept them; I like them okay but don’t reach for them first. To me they do read a little frumpy due to the stretchy/slightly cheap feeling fabric/construction and the way the wide leg falls on them so I use them as my “bum around” rather than “polished” jeans. I also have them in frosted blue though; a darker color prob looks more elevated. I bought a pair of rose pink sneakers with super wide laces 5 yrs ago from Loft that I barely wore, so I’ll be bringing those out as my ballet sneaker dupes!
ReplyDeleteWell, for me it's easy as I'm not a professional anything and I spend most of my days around here. I am shifting to my spring uniform, which is jeans and a short-sleeved tee, as opposed to jeans and a sweater or jeans and a long-sleeved tee. I did not know about that trend but now that I'm over 50 I am DONE on the trend front. I give zero fucks about what's in style anymore, which is why I still wear my skinny jeans, depending on footwear (tall boots or Mary Jane flats)
ReplyDeleteLong time reader from Germany here… I like to shop for work clothes at Boden, they have basic shirts in vibrant colors and also blouses/dresses in fun prints. They have a US website too, https://us.boden.com/collections/womens-tops.
ReplyDeleteI have finally- FINALLY- created a work uniform. Bloomie's Agua trousers, a blouse/shirt/body suit and shoes. Done and done. The same belt over and over. I have five Bloomingdales pants, rotate them and just pull a shirt or a sweater or a blouse. And I LOVE it- take the thinking out of it. For shoes, I do my Adidas sneakers or block heel slingbacks. Depending of weather and a level of activity for the day.
ReplyDeleteOh this is Daria btw
DeleteI'm intrigued by Quince. There's no way that everything is THAT good, but I've never seen anyone say anything less than glowing about them. I'd love to know your experience and for $50, it seems fairly low stakes
