For years I tried to avoid athleisure in public, and then I started buying Lululemon pants. And now? I aspire to never getting dressed in hard pants again. Kidding. But not really. I think I will just waft from maxi dresses to leggings and sweaters forever. From Birkenstock season to Ugg season, with a brief stopover in cute sneakers season on the way.
I have my eye on THESE pants, and then maybe I won't even have to get dressed for lecture?
But still. I have some questions for you.
1. Who makes the very BEST leggings?
2. What sports bras do you love? My current favorite is THIS ONE, but I am open to experimentation.
3. What's your go-to sneaker when you're wearing workout gear and not actually working out?
4. What do you wear on top? Who makes the BEST t-shirts?
5. Have you tried a Quince yoga set?
Can't wait to wear these sweats again
Forget dance! Studio pants are the best eating pants everActua/ exercise clothes= not actual public clothes

1. Who makes the very BEST leggings? I would dearly love to know this answer. Duluth leggings fade after three washes, even if you line dry them. My Boody leggings have yet to fade, but they roll and I adjust the waistband approximately eighty times an hour. I have some wool leggings, but they also have waistband issues.
ReplyDelete2. What sports bras do you love? LOL forever at "light support" in that bra you linked to. I need more support than that and have found SheFit to be a good brand for me.
3. What's your go-to sneaker when you're wearing workout gear and not actually working out? I do not wear sneakers.
4. What do you wear on top? Who makes the BEST t-shirts? I rarely wear t-shirts.
5. Have you tried a Quince yoga set? Quince does not pass the Good on You test for me and since there are plenty of brands that make yoga clothes that DO pass it, I will never fall for Quince's greenwashing. There are some items of clothing you cannot get in any ethical way, including sports bras and athletic shoes, but I try when I can.
Well, I think I'm pretty much living your dream- at least comfort-wise (perhaps not looks-wise, ha ha.) I CAN WEAR YOGA PANTS TO WORK. The ones I have right now are from Target and Old Navy. Running clothes, especially shorts and bras, I get from Athleta when they're having a sale. I have a few pieces from Lululemon that I love, but usually they're too expensive for me (do they have sales? If so, let me know!)
ReplyDeleteI exist in sneakers and crocs. Right now my "work" sneakers are a pair of Altas, that I don't think were ever made for running. Maybe they're walking shoes? They're cute! I mean... by my standards, anyway.
I've never tried Quince- but I'm intrigued. Maybe I will, one of these days.
For comfort/ buttery soft leggings that come in a short size (I'm 4'10"), I LOVE the Aerie real me high waist. They are perfect for walking and being around the house etc. Not much compression if that is a priority. Way way better feel to them than Old Navy for example.
ReplyDeleteTees are so widely ranging it really depends on what you're looking for. I love the mini t-shirt from Uniqlo because the tighter fit is flattering on me (I'm very straight up and down and short so it creates more of a waist). Their regular tee is high quality for a great price and is a bit longer and more relaxed than the mini t. Both hold up great in the laundry and are 100% cotton.
I'm very loyal to Lululemon, and I've been wearing their leggings exclusively (I mean, no other leggings, I have other clothes) since 2007. I have had pieces from Lulu last me two decades, so I can speak to the longevity, and that's with wash-after-every-use-hang-to-dry care. I used to be devoted to Wunder Unders, but these days I prefer Align.
ReplyDeleteSports bras: hate. I don't run anymore so I just wear my old Lululemon tanks with shelf bra to workout and to walk. The only sports bras I will abide these days are the kind that do up in the front, rather than the kind to pull on.
I have no answer to 3 or to 4, see also Lulu tanks with shelf bra (I love the long tri-y tops, which they no longer make. I am tall so anything "waist" or "hip" length is way too short on me, so I am just wearing old gear until longer tops come back)
I have tried nothing from Quince, I've heard they ship to Canada now but with exchange and my basic feelings on tariffs, I probably won't try them for a while.
I mostly wear Wool& leggings these days -- pricy but fabulous. Cozy in cold weather, comfortable on days that start cool and get warm, sustainable, odor-resistant. They are part of my cool-weather uniform.
ReplyDeleteI cannot get on board with this. The Wool& leggings roll, Sarah. THEY ROLL. I think it's because they don't want to use manmade fabrics, so their waistband is terrible. Jamie must have amazing luck and/or a very slim waist!
DeleteHuh, that's so interesting! I do not have a very slim waist but they have never rolled for me, even though I own multiple pairs. I wonder if you might be the one with bad luck, NGS?
DeleteI have been avoiding athleasure wear forever, but will be on a red-eye flight very soon, and don’t want to wear my regular yoga pants (they’re capri length and cheap) or jeans (the waist! all night!), so am thinking I may go check out the sale rack at lululemon and see if I can find something cute and comfy. If this works I may change my ways entirely. I would love to be comfortable while looking (at least kind of) put together.
ReplyDeleteDepop has tons of Lululemon new-with-tags items for 20-25% of the original price. I’m with Nicole, I have Lulu tanks from 2015 that I wear weekly that are still in good condition.

ReplyDeleteI never comment but felt the need to tell everyone about Vinted if they don’t already know. I literally sent my sister a link for $16 brand new with tags, Lululemon leggings. And there’s no hidden fees and shipping is covered. It’s amazing.
ReplyDeleteI loooove athleisure from quince! I have joggers & a zip up sweatshirt in the flowknit fabric that i've had for over a year, washed a ton and it is still in perfect shape! this fall i got wide leg pants and a sweatshirt in the cloudcomfort fabric. it is so cozy!! unfortunately the second time i wore the pants i sat on the ground to stretch and foam roll and messed up the fabric behind my knees. huge bummer, it looks a little worn now. fortunately they're black so it's not super noticeable, at least that's what i tell myself :)
