Week 2 FIGs

1. Cookie dough Built bars. THESE ARE SO DELICIOUS. I am always looking for something sweet to eat at the end of the lunch hour, and THESE ARE IT.

2. Last week's Cool Blogger Book Club homework. Look at these gorg Gilded Age mansions just a 10-minute walk from my office!

3. Sunrises.

4. Sunsets

5. More fave comfy clothes at work

6. Fave walking/running buddy

7. I got my filthy car washed!!!! At one of those places where you just get out and they drive it through and like 6 people leap into action and vacuum everything. Which gave me plenty of time to look at the macaws. Which honestly really creep me out. BUT NOW MY CAR IS CLEAN on the outside and definitely clean-ish on the inside.

Bonus: this book is terrific, and I loved the narrator
Also, a cookie decorating kit from a local bakery-- Minnie got to frost cut-outs, and I did not have to bake them (but they were freshly baked, and the frosting was **chef's kiss**!)

  1. LOVE THESE!
A clean car is THE BEST feeling.
Minnie looks so happy and amazing to not have dirty dishes to clean up!
I am loving the light in the mornings and evenings. It makes such a difference to my mood and my energy levels.

  2. I need to take my car to one of those things, but sadly with Rex it would only last a day.

  3. Oh that's so cool, you did the homework! I don't think there are any Gilded Age mansions where I live, so I'll just enjoy looking at your photos.
Love your running buddy. And, I want to read that book! It's on my TBR.

  4. Phil tried to get one of our cars washed yesterday but the line was so very long so he gave up. It’s definitely car washing weather. Hurrah!

That book is so so good! It was one of my best books of 2025!

  5. I loved the Road to Tender Hearts! SO GOOD. We took one of our cars to one of those car washes recently. I love the little store, but am sad that ours doesn’t have macaws. What creeps you out about them?

  6. I had a conversation with my husband about washing the car. I said I was going to buy the $40 package at our local car wash (unlimited washes up to one a day) and since we have two cars, this seems like a good idea. He was APPALLED. $500 a year on car washes! He told me he'd take the cars for a car wash once a month if I let go of the idea of a monthly subscription. I said fine - now go wash the car. He went to Kwik Trip (I'm rolling my eyes SO HARD RIGHT NOW) and had to wait THREE QUARTERS OF AN HOUR to get through a mediocre car wash. The wait at the other place is under five minutes. Anyway, one of the cars is cleanish. But the car wash wars have just begun in our house.

    1. The Kwik Trip washes are really pretty sucky. Which sucks, because Asher's swim team does a fundraiser selling discounted Kwik Trip car washes, so I always end up with some "free" (aka already paid for by me when I inevitably end up not selling the car wash cards and buying them myself...) car washes from there. I mean, it's better than nothing, but I feel like there's always still visible dirt on the car even after. Our local Mobil station seems to do the best job for the drive through car wash options.

I'm now intrigued by this monthly unlimited option. That's at a local place? Now with 4 drivers and FOUR CARS here, omg, I think we should look into an option like this by us! I didn't know that existed. I need to do some research now.

    2. Yes, it is a local car wash that has one in our town, Beloit, and Hartford (wherever that is). If you can find a local place with a monthly membership that allows you to use multiple cars, that's a deal. I feel like some of them make you buy a sub for each car (with a sticker on the car or something like that) and that would be less useful. I'm sort of obsessed with car wash memberships right now (are they unlimited, twice a week, for multiple cars, etc.). This will pass when our new car gets its first ding or scratch.

  7. Ugh, those bars have gluten. They sound like what I need, I love a little something sweet after lunch. The bakery cookie treat is perfect. We tend to be the type that lets the rain 'clean' our cars, but our cars are so very gross right now- the salt and yuck of winter makes the car's color difficult to even see.

  8. Those Gilded Age mansions! How amazing to have those so close/within an easy walk :)

  9. Ohh, a car wash place where I DON'T have to do the vacuuming part? Sign me up! I go to one where my car goes through the wash on a track but then I have to do the vacuuming part, which I hate.

The Road to Tender Hearts was sooooooo good.
