Slow Down Saturday: Just one kid

Last night, we did the weirdest thing. We took ONE SINGLE KID out to dinner. It was so great Basically like taking NO KIDS. I want to go back to 2006 us and tell them that one kid is not hard. But, to be fair, we have never just had a single 5 year-old with totally self-sufficient siblings. Anyway, it was a delight.

Also that is CIDER in those wine glasses, and it is DELICIOUS.

Also also Minnie had a grilled cheese fries, and ice cream-- basically an elevated Culvers experience.

(Jack is visiting his bro; Dorothy was at a bday party, and Cooper went to watch the HS girls sectional dive meet (his club teammates finished one and two and got state bids!)).

  1. So fun to have some one-on-one time! Or two on one time, I guess.

  2. I recently took my 6-year-old to the bookstore and out for muffins, and it was so easy and delightful. It is really nice to have time with just one!

  3. We only have one child (16 now), so I guess we lived this life the whole time. :) Sometimes I wished for siblings to keep her entertained, but it wasn't in the cards. I bet she had a GREAT time though!

  5. Aw, so fun! Think about it... in about five years Minnie will be the only kid left at home! You will have lots and lots of Minnie time. Maybe it's good to start setting the scene now so it's not totally weird when it happens.

  6. Aw, this is so fun. We rotate taking a kid to breakfast a few times a year. It's hard to get that one on one time. I bet she loved having you both all to herself.
