After a couple of blissful months of all of our appliances working, our godforsaken oven is broken. AGAIN. FML. I heats to a target temp and claims to stay there but actually falls rapidly, a reality not reflected on the display. There is a wonderful repairman here looking at it right now but things are grim. AND IT IS SUCH A CHEAP OVEN. WHY DID WE BUY SUCH A CHEAP OVEN?????
(It broke almost exactly on year ago when it was still under warranty./ Today, it is one month OUTSIDE its warranty because OF COURSE).
Also, you guys. HOW CAN I BAKE THINGS for CHRISMUKKAH?
Update: Repairman says everything is testing ok on his end (heating elements, specifically) and he unplugged and replugged the oven and it heated up fine. Did I pay $150 for someone to reset my oven? MAYBE. Will I care if the oven actually works? MAYBE NOT.
Dorothy texted me yesterday morning that she forgot all about her orchestra concert! And I did too because the school district switched to some app for all its communication (no more emails!) and I am not at all in the hang of checking it. When I do follow the text notifications to the app, I am always pleased to see everything for all 4 kids in one spot, so the app IS handy. I think it is a me problem. But! Anyway! I made plans with Minnie to grab take out sandwiches for her and Coop (Dorothy could stay at school and have pizza and help set up for the show), and we picked up the food, picked up Cooper, dropped Cooper off at diving, ran to Target for a teacher gift for Minnie's teacher (she chose a glittery heart ornament, plus a Starbucks gift card (gah!) and a Crumbl gift card), and then went to the orchestra concert where Minnie ate her sandwich (plus a banana!) in her lap. MOTHER OF THE YEAR.
Dorothy also noticed that her red sweatshirt was not going to work for orchestra (all black dress code), so I offered her my black oversized seater, which she grudgingly accepted.
She said after the concert that she thought "the turtle" was cool and chunky like another sweater I have and was bummed to find that it was "so teachery"
BORED.
Ugh the oven woes!! And so soon after the warranty expired. Yikes. I hope the reset worked!! And a surprise concert is tough - and also why have a concert during this time of year!! Bad idea!! I think your kids go to public school so it’s not like it a Christmas-themed concert! So have it in Jan when we aren’t all losing our minds over to do lists and wrapping gifts and such.

ReplyDeleteI didn't know Dorothy plays in orchestra! Does she play violin? Yes, I would imagine Minnie was bored, and to be honest orchestra concerts at that level can be kind of brutal. Drawing pictures was a great idea.
I cannot believe how much you fit in that purse! It's like a Mary Poppins bag in real life.
ReplyDeleteUgh to the oven. My electric beaters broke this week, so those need replacing because...UM CHRISTMAS BAKING!
That purse is really punching above its weight. You are so prepared for whatever happens with that! Our appliances (fingers crossed have been working this year), but we've had expensive car repairs, a roof leak, and a 100-year-old pipes that are on their last legs, so it's not looking to be a great year spending wise.
